Dedicated to the worldwide promotion and advancement of women's golf, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is a non-profit organization involved in every facet of golf. Founded in 1950, the LPGA is the longest-running, women's professional sports association.
The LPGA maintains a strong focus on charity through:
- The Formation of the LPGA Foundation
- LPGA-USGA Girls Golf
The Girls Golf program provides an opportunity for girls, ages 7 to 17, to learn to play golf, build lasting friendships and experience competition
in a fun, supportive environment.
The LPGA Tour, the Symetra Tour, and the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Membership comprise the backbone of what has become the
premier women's sports organization in the world today.
The LPGA Teaching and Club Professional (T&CP) Membership was established in 1959 as an outgrowth of the LPGA Tour membership and has
enjoyed an unprecedented rate of growth in recent years. The LPGA boasts the largest membership of women golf professionals in the world.
With more than 1,600 members, the LPGA T&CP membership is dedicated to the advancement of golf through teaching, managing golf facilities and coaching.
The Symetra Tour is known as "the Road to the LPGA" and since 1999, it has been designated as the LPGA’s official developmental tour.
The LPGA acquired the Symetra Tour in July 2007. The mission of the Symetra Tour is to prepare the world's best young women professional golfers
for a successful career on the LPGA Tour.
